Joust is a classic action-adventure game where players control a knight with a lance on their flying ostrich to battle against computer-controlled evil knights. The objective is to hit the enemy from a higher jousting point to destroy the vulture and its rider, while also collecting eggs before they hatch and release new, increasingly difficult knights.
The gameplay involves flapping the steed's wings to generate power-ups and hit enemies. Players must navigate through crumbling platforms, lava trolls, and other hazards while avoiding a deadly pterodactyl. The game features three types of enemy knights with different strengths: Bounder, Hunter, and Shadow Lord.
Joust was released in 1983 for the Atari 5200 console and was notable for being one of the few two-player simultaneous games available in arcades at that time.
