Bubble Bobble

The gameplay involves a platformer with each level being a single screen. Enemies must be cleared from a level to proceed to the next one. One player controls Bub while the other controls Bob, allowing them to jump and collect items for points. The key power-up is blowing bubbles, which can be used as platforms or to trap enemies.

Enemies trapped in a bubble must be popped by jumping into them, turning them into fruit. Power-ups like lightning and water also float around in bubbles, providing additional abilities. Taking too long to complete any level will summon Baron Von Blubba, who tries to destroy the player. The NES version has an extra set of stages, increasing the total number of stages to 112.

The Sharp X68000 version features a hidden minigame called Sybubblun, containing 20 original difficult levels with a unique theme.
