The gameplay involves navigating large mazes, fighting monsters, solving puzzles, and using magic spells to progress through the story. Stealth sequences are also present, where Harry must sneak around without being caught by teachers and prefects, who will deduct house points if they discover him. Collectibles such as Famous Wizard cards, Flavour Beans, and Chocolate Frogs provide bonuses and unlock special features.

Quidditch is also back in this game, but with a three-dimensional twist, viewed from behind. The game's isometric perspective adds a new layer of challenge to the classic action-adventure formula.
