Getting Started
Insert the Monster Force Game Pak into the Game Boy® Advance and turn on the system. Press START once the Title Screen has appeared to access the Main Menu.
From the Main Menu, you have four choices:
•
New Game: Select to begin playing Monster Force.
•
Continue Game: Choose if you have a previously saved game.
•
Multiplayer: Battle head-to-head with a friend.
•
Options: Adjust music and sound effects, or view the game credits.
Zones and Trial Levels
Monsterland is divided into nine Zones, each featuring its own monster culture. Each Zone consists of three stages.
The first two stages are standard levels where the goal is to reach the end safely. The final stage features a particular Skill Test that must be met to succeed. Failing the Trial does not prevent you from proceeding, but you will not receive a ranking.
Skill Tests
Trial stages feature multiple Skill Tests. These are secondary tasks that challenge you to complete the level in specific ways, such as defeating 100% of the enemies.
Succeeding in Skill Tests earns players atom bonuses.
Igor and the Message Screen
Igor, an old friend of the Frankenstein family, runs the local Store. He is concerned about Dr. Victor and offers help to the young heroes through messages and advice.
When you encounter something new, the Message Screen appears. Igor provides an explanation to help you understand the situation.

All pumpkins are destructible; try shooting them.
Shots
Each monster must master three different shots for battle. Many enemies are vulnerable to only one specific type of shot.
Normal Shot (B Button)
This is the least powerful attack and only damages the first enemy it hits. While most enemies can eventually be destroyed by a Normal Shot, they will not leave any goodies behind.
Force Combo (Hold B Button)
This is a more powerful attack that damages all enemies in its path. Destroying enemies with a Force Combo causes them to leave atoms behind. The more enemies you destroy with a single shot, the higher the value of atoms each successive enemy will drop.
Triple Shot (Press B Button in quick succession)
This is the most powerful attack. A Triple Shot is achieved by firing twice more immediately after releasing a Normal Shot. The two subsequent shots are increasingly more powerful, and a sound effect will confirm correct execution.
Ranking
At the end of every level, you receive an atom ranking and bonuses based on your performance. The ranking is primarily based on the number of atoms collected.
You also receive atom bonuses for Time and Perfect performances:
•
Time Bonus: Granted if the level is completed within a certain timeframe.
•
Perfect Bonus: Granted if the level is completed without taking a hit.
Ranking is a crucial aspect of the game, with unknown rewards for achieving a perfect ranking.
Atoms and Stores
The currency of Monsterland is bits of energy called atoms. Atoms are found in pumpkins or dropped by enemies.
Collecting as many atoms as possible increases your ranking. You can also spend these atoms on valuable Power-ups in the Store between levels. Igor runs the Store and offers a good stock of items. He sometimes stocks rare, more powerful items, but these come with a higher price.
Stats and Power-ups
The three heroes can develop their skills throughout their journey. Shot strength and Health Points can be increased using Power-ups found in the Store.
These Relics increase your stats as long as they are held. They are stored in the Relics Inventory. Each monster can carry four Relic Power-ups, allowing you to customize abilities.
If your inventory is full and you find a more powerful Relic:
1. Access the Relics Inventory in the Pause Menu or while in the store.
2. Choose an item to discard.
3. Press SELECT to drop the item.
4. Pick up the new Relic.
The Pause Screen
The Pause Screen displays detailed information about your character, including:
•
Number of atoms collected.
•
Percentage of maximum Health Points remaining.
•
Percentage of maximum Force Attack remaining.
•
Percentage of maximum Normal attack remaining.
•
List of Power-ups and their descriptions.
To navigate between inventories, press the Control Pad Up (▲) or Down (▼).
Multiplayer
Dr. Victor's apprentices have created a volatile game using his experiments. They have stolen his items to play against each other, despite Victor's attempts to hide them from the Monsters.
Players can battle in nine new arenas, one in each Zone. These arenas are unlocked by playing through the single-player mode.
The controls remain the same as single-player, but new Power-ups are available for combat. The player who wins the most matches out of a set number wins the game.
