1942 , a vertically scrolling shooter for GameBoy Color, drops you into the midst of World War II as Super Ace, a daring fighter pilot. Your mission is to defend against enemy planes over sea and land, with levels taking place on aircraft carriers. As you progress through 24 levels, including the infamous Midway and The Final Area, you'll encounter various plane formations and power-ups that can boost your firepower and chances of survival. With three rolls per life, you can evade enemy attacks and take down the enemy forces.

Gameplay in 1942 revolves around strategic flight management and timely use of power-ups to gain an advantage over the enemy planes. With multiple enemy formations and obstacles to navigate, you'll need quick reflexes and sharp instincts to outmaneuver your opponents.
