Congo Bongo is an arcade platform game similar to Donkey Kong, but with an isometric perspective. The player takes control of a safari hunter searching for an ape named Bongo , who set their tent on fire and must be punished. The game consists of four one-screen stages, each with the objective of jumping on platforms and reaching the top. Various animals will try to stop the protagonist, including a large gorilla that throws coconuts.
The gameplay is all about avoiding enemy attacks and navigating through obstacles. The hero has no offensive abilities and must jump or avoid enemy attacks. Stages may contain hazardous spots that would kill off the main character. The player's goal is to reach the top of each stage without taking damage, making for a challenging and thrilling experience.
