Super Zaxxon is a three-quarter perspective, space shooter style game where you must first navigate over a base on an asteroid. The base features various installations such as gun placements, fuel tanks, radar stations, missiles, and fighters. After successfully completing the base, you'll proceed through a tunnel to engage in combat with enemy fighters, mine layers, and mines. Your ultimate goal is to take down the Super Zaxxon's, the enemy robot dragons.

The gameplay is similar to Super Zaxxon , but with some notable differences:

You'll encounter more ground targets due to your fighter's increased speed.

The graphics are distinct, offering a different viewing experience despite being similar to Zaxxon .

Instead of an outer space battle, you'll navigate through a narrow tunnel to reach area 3.

You'll face 25 fighters in area 2, compared to 20 in the original game.

A new enemy, the Mine Layer, is introduced. This ship lays mines in your path, which can be destroyed but requires a few hits.

You'll encounter three Super Zaxxon robots instead of one.

The placement and appearance of installations such as fuel tanks and gun placements differ between areas 1 and 3.

Elevated, indestructible guns are introduced in area 1, situated on the right side at an altitude of 2.5 units.


