You can keep a record of the fish you catch in your Gallery.

Choose from:
•
Practice - Sit back and relax, fish at your leisure. There is no time limit.
•
2-Day Best Fish - Catch the highest scoring fish in one location over the course of two days.
•
3 Day All Release - Catch the most fish, by points in one location over 3 days.

Tournament
In tournament mode, begin in the Hawaiian Pacific, and unlock new locations by successfully completing the fishing challenges.
How to Hook a Fish
When a fish is nibbling at your bait, pull the rod back quickly to set the hook. Be careful not to pull too hard, or you'll yank the lure right out of its mouth! How hard to pull will depend on the type of fish nibbling at your bait.
One thing is for sure, from the moment you set the hook; you must keep the tension on.
How to Fight a Fish
Each fish has a different fighting style. Some will jump, others dive, a few will try to spool your line out, swimming away until you run out of line. Knowing the fighting style of each fish will help you fight it.
•
Hint: A fish out of water, is, well, a fish out of water. If your catch jumps into the great blue yonder, take a moment to marvel it's grace, then reel him with all your might. You can reel in a flying fish much faster than a swimming fish.
•
Hint: Some fish are best left to tire out before trying to reel them in. Good luck!
Radar
You can use your Sweeper Sonar to find the best place to fish, check your game objectives and to gather information on the fish that inhabit the area.
The fish information screen will let you know what species of fish are in the area, the temperature and depth preference for each fish type, the best lure to use, the average length and weight for each fish, and a brief description of the fighting style for each fish.
Saving and Loading
Saltwater Sportfishing requires 1 free block of space in order to save. Make sure there are enough free blocks on your memory card before commencing play. Saltwater Sportfishing only supports MEMORY CARD slot 1.
If you have a memory card inserted upon boot-up, and a Saltwater Sportfishing game profile is on the memory card, the game profile will be automatically loaded. If there is more than one game profile, the one most recently saved will be loaded.
You may also load a saved game profile by choosing Load on the Main Menu. If you wish to save your game, choose Save on the Main Menu.
If you have a memory card inserted with no Saltwater Sportfishing saves on it, you will be asked to save to the memory card. Selecting yes will create a saved game profile. If you have an unformatted memory card inserted, you will be asked if you wish to format the memory card. Selecting Yes will format the memory card, and create a saved game profile.
Gallery
After you have caught some fish in the various gameplay modes, you can check out your recorded catches in the Gallery. You can also view high scores and points from Recreation Mode and Arcade Mode.
Lines
There is a range of line weights from 4 pounds to 130 pounds. You must select the appropriate line weight. If the line is too thick, fish will avoid your bait. If the line is too weak, a fish will break it immediately.
A lighter line will always mean a harder fight and a better score. It is possible to catch a fish that weighs seven times the weight of the line or more!
Line Tension
Once a fish is on your line the Line Tension meter will appear at the top of the screen. This will let you know how much stress the fishing line can take before it will break. If the meter goes too far into the red, the line will snap.
Lures
Different lures attract different types of fish. For example, the
