Devil May Cry 2 is the sequel to Devil May Cry . The game follows Dante or his new partner Lucia as they battle demons in various levels, ultimately reaching Arius's schemes.

The gameplay of Devil May Cry 2 features an Amulet system, where players acquire different parts throughout the levels that can be equipped from the pause menu. These parts change aspects of the characters' Devil Triggers form, such as elemental moves, time stop abilities, and faster movement.

The game introduces Dante's iconic sword, Rebellion , as well as new abilities like wall-running, aerial kicks, and multi-directional shooting. Lucia wields two curved swords and rapidly throws knives at her enemies.
