Main Menu
After pressing START at the Title Screen, you can start a new game or load a saved game. You need a memory card with 70KB free space in MEMORY CARD slot 1 to save your progress.
If you start a new game with a memory card containing a previously saved Budokai™ 2 game, that data will be erased. If you have saved data from a Dragon Ball Z Budokai game, you will automatically unlock some capsules. The more you unlocked in the original game, the more bonus capsules you'll receive. Use the directional buttons or left analog stick to highlight an option, then press the button to select it.
Dragon World
Become Goku® and join friends to defeat enemies. Unlock hidden characters, collect new skills, and earn Zenie. If you find all seven Dragon Balls, Shenron will grant your wish! Select Dragon World from the Main Menu. If it's your first time, you'll start on the first map. Otherwise, you'll continue on your last map. You'll be prompted to select allies for your adventure.
Each map has a specific goal, like defeating an enemy. Completing the goal moves you to the next map, even if you haven't found a Dragon Ball. You can find more than one Dragon Ball on a map. Moving Around the Map
The game is played in turns. Each character (except Goku) is represented by their portrait. A blue background means an ally, orange means an enemy. The lower left of the portrait shows the character's Health Bar. The upper right shows the number of moves they can make per turn. •

Each character on the map has 1 to 5 Health Points. Losing a duel costs one Health Point. If a character reaches zero Health Points, they are removed from the map. You can regain Health Points by moving to Dende's location.
Wisdom of King Kai™
Set the pace. If your opponent cowers in your mere presence and will only block your attacks, maneuver around behind him and kickstart the battle.
Battle!
When your character and an enemy occupy the same location, a brief dialog occurs. You then have the option to view your skills or begin the battle. (You must use Edit Skills to change listed skills before battle.)
After each duel, the winner remains at the location. If there's more than one opponent, you must defeat both. The loser(s) lose one Health Point and move back one map square.
A damage mark above the loser indicates they are stunned. If you defeat a character with this mark, their Health Points decrease by two instead of one.
Unlocking Characters
To unlock some characters, you must defeat an opponent in Dragon World or Babidi's Spaceship with a character associated with them in the animated series.
•
Some characters can be defeated by more than one character to unlock a different character each time.
