Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja 4 follows Naruto's journey with Jiraiya as they face a demon named Black Shadow who demands human sacrifices from a nearby village. After resolving this issue, the game continues with the regular Kazekage story arc of the Shippuden storyline.
The gameplay in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja 4 is centred around combat, with two opponents clashing in high-speed attacks that are determined by a game similar to Rock, Paper, Scissors. The player can collect items, fight enemies and talk to people to progress through the game. A new technique called "Awakening Jutsu" has been added, which gives characters hidden powers but can only be used under certain conditions.
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja 4 was released on April 5th, 2007, for the Playstation 2 console.
