Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit returns to its roots with scenic tracks, cops versus racers face-off, and exotic super cars. The game is set in Seacrest County, where roads are filled with cars from all over the world, forcing the local police department to keep up with law violators to ensure citizen safety.
The game follows a unique career path where you play as both a racer and a cop, each with 20 ranks to achieve. Rewards include new cars, unlocked by progressing through four groups of racing events: sports, performance, super, exotic, and hyper.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit features sprints, time trials, and races with or without police presence as a racer, while the Law Enforcer's job is to fight racers and bust them using different methods. The game highlights powerful cars, including the Subaru WRX STi and Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport.
The game also includes an online multiplayer mode with some extra modes available in the Armed and Dangerous Pack DLC. The new Autolog system tracks player friends' records and encourages competition to improve times.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit was released on November 19, 2010, for the PlayStation 3 console.
