Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit returns to its roots with scenic tracks, cops versus racers face-off, and exotic cars. The game is set in Seacrest County, a land of diverse landscapes filled with cars from around the world, making it a challenge for law enforcement to keep citizens safe.
The game follows two careers: as a racer and a cop. Both have 20 ranks to achieve, unlocking new cars along the way. The racing events are divided into four groups based on car types: sports, performance, super, exotic, and hyper. These events can only be accessed from the map and come in three formats - sprints, time trials, and races with or without police presence. As a cop, the focus is on fighting racers and busting them using various methods.
The game focuses on the most powerful cars in the world, with 64 models available, including the Subaru WRX STi, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, and Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit features an online multiplayer mode with additional game modes included in the Armed and Dangerous Pack DLC. The new Autolog system tracks players' friends' records and encourages competition to beat their times.
The game was released on PlayStation 3 on November 16, 2010.
