Samurai Shodown is set in an alternate universe where Samurai Shodown players take on one of the roles of fifteen warriors, fighting their way through the land to defeat Rashojin Mizuki, who was thrown into the sea when she was a young girl and since then became a servant of the dark god Ambrosia.
The game features a diverse cast of characters, including five new playable characters: Genjuro Kibagami, Cham-Cham (Tam-Tam's sister), Neinhalt Sieger, Nicotine Caffeine, and Kuroko. Players can choose from these characters to engage in intense fighting matches.
Samurai Shodown features a unique gameplay mechanic that allows players to charge up a power meter to access special moves. The game also introduces new movement options, such as rolling forward and backward, small jumps, and ducking to avoid attacks. Additionally, there is a parrying move that can leave opponents vulnerable for a moment if executed correctly.
Samurai Shodown was released on June 25, 2019 exclusively for the PlayStation 4, offering a fresh take on the classic fighting game genre.
