Olympic Gold

The official game of the Games of the XXV Olympiad, held in Barcelona in 1992, featuring seven different events: 100M Sprint, Hammer Throw, Archery, 110M Hurdles, Pole Vault, Springboard diving and 200M Freestyle Swimming.

Gameplay features the typical button mashing formula used by Epyx during the 80s. In the 100M Sprint, 110M Hurdles and 200M Freestyle Swimming events, players must mash buttons with slight variations: in the hurdles, they need to press a specific key to jump over obstacles, while in swimming, pressing an action button triggers a return swim. The player initially faces a semi-final round and only qualifies for the final if they achieve top-half scores.

Other events include Hammer Throw, where players mash buttons with an accurate release of an action button, and Pole Vault, which requires initial mashing followed by specific key presses and an action button press to clear the bar. Archery is a technical event with three rounds of six arrows each, where players aim for the highest scores.

The player can choose from eight nations: Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, hosts Spain, United Stats, Japan and the CIS, each with their own anthem and athlete samples. Each athlete performs differently in various events, with some capable of breaking records or achieving top spots.
