Sonic the Hedgehog takes place in a world where the inhabitants of South Island are under threat. Dr. Robotnik has stolen all the Chaos Emeralds, which kept the power balance, and thrown them into a parallel universe. He's keeping the red one for himself. Sonic and Tails must retrieve all the Chaos Emeralds before the destruction of South Island.
The gameplay in Sonic the Hedgehog is classic platforming action. Players control either Sonic or Tails as they navigate through levels filled with obstacles, enemies, and challenging terrain. The game features fast-paced action, tight controls, and a variety of power-ups to help players progress.
