Publishers brought Worms , a turn-based strategy game, to the Sega Genesis in 1995. The game features up to 4 teams of 4 worms, with the goal of destroying the others on a randomly generated terrain.
The gameplay is simple: each player takes turns controlling one worm from their team. The worm can move left and right or jump, but time limits apply to make a move. Falling from great heights causes health loss and ends the turn immediately, while falling into water or offscreen results in death. Each turn allows for a single attack using various weapons, including bazookas affected by wind settings and gravity.
With numerous weapons available, such as fire punches, dynamite, and airstrikes, each with its own unique characteristics, players can choose the right tool for the job. The terrain also plays a crucial role, with 10 different styles to choose from, including forests, deserts, Candy land, and even the moon.
