Worms is a turn-based strategy game where up to 4 teams of 4 worms compete to destroy each other on a generated terrain. The goal is to eliminate all opponents, while each worm has its own health points that decrease when hit. When a worm runs out of health, it explodes and causes damage to nearby worms.
The gameplay involves turn-based control of one worm per player. Each worm can move left or right, jump, or attack using a single shot fired upwards with chosen weapons. However, movement is limited by time constraints, and excessive falls from heights result in reduced health. Players must aim carefully when firing attacks, as the trajectory is affected by wind settings and gravity.
The game features an array of available weapons, including standard items like bazookas that depend on random weather conditions and gravity. Other options include grenades, fire punches, dynamite, airstrikes, and utility tools such as ropes and girders.
Players can choose from 10 unique terrain styles, each with its own challenges and effects on gameplay, including altered gravity in some cases. The result is a dynamic environment where players must adapt to the terrain while targeting their opponents.
