Starting Up
Set up your Sega Saturn™ system as described in its instruction manual and plug in Control Pad(s). *Bust A Move 2™: Arcade Edition* supports one or two players. Place the disc, label side up, in the well of the CD tray and close the lid. Turn on the TV or monitor and the Sega Saturn™. The Sega Saturn™ logo appears on screen. If nothing happens, turn the system off and ensure it is set up correctly before turning it on again. To stop the game or display the Control Panel at the end, press the Reset Button on the console.
Important: The CD contains a security code. Keep the disc clean and handle it carefully. If reading issues occur, remove the disc and wipe it from the center straight out toward the edge.

Game Modes Overview
*Bust-A-Move 2X* and *Bust-A-Move 2* offer different screens and maps for twice the challenge. Explore Puzzle Game, Player Vs. Computer, and Player Vs. Player modes.
Puzzle Game Mode
Choose Puzzle Game to work through the alphabet as puzzles become tougher. The right move earns a time bonus, while a wrong one may bury you in bubbles.
After selecting the mode, proceed to the Level Select Screen, then the Course Selection Screen.
•
Each lettered course consists of five screens. Master all five to advance to the next set.
•
Choose your course with the D-PAD and press the A BUTTON.
•
The game is completed when you finish the last round.
Continue Feature
If a bubble sinks below the dead-line, the game is over. If credits remain, press the START BUTTON during the CONTINUE count-down to resume.
Field Layout
Special Bubbles
Special Bubbles appear randomly in the frame or shooter cue. They can help you, but different types appear depending on the game mode.
•
Star Bubble: Bursts all bubbles of the color it first touches. It has no effect on other Special Bubbles.
•
Metal Bubble: Destroys all bubbles it touches on its way to the top.
•
Jama Bubble: Cannot be busted. You must drop it by busting its neighbors.
•
Jama Block: Never disappears. Bubbles stick to it, and it cannot be dropped.
Name Entry
If you achieve a top score in Puzzle Game or Player Vs. Computer, you can enter up to three characters. Press LEFT or RIGHT on the D-PAD to toggle letters, then press the A BUTTON to enter them.
Player Vs. Computer Mode
Select this mode to go to the Level Select Screen. The level sets based on the cursor position when the Timer reads 0.
•
Practice: Three rounds with aiming pulsor guides ON.
•
Normal and Hard: Features 12 screens in total.
Player Vs. Computer Rules
This is a Do-Or-Die scenario. Defeat one opponent to face the next; if you lose, the game ends. You can dump bubbles on your opponent's side by busting enough at once.
A second player can bust in to join an ongoing single-player game by pressing Start on the second controller. The winner can resume the previous game.
Player Vs. Player Mode
Select this mode to go to the Level Select Screen. After choosing the level, the game starts. The first player to win the set number of games is the champion. You can jettison bubbles into your opponent's field.
•
Practice: Practice against a live opponent using the aiming pulser.
•
Normal: The default level; tough but manageable.
•
Variety: An awesome strategic challenge.
Edit Mode

Playing User-Made Screens
Basic rules match Puzzle Game. There are six courses (A~F) with five rounds each. Clearing a course advances you to the next.
The game concludes after Course F or when all self-made courses are beaten. If you do not create all 30 screens in advance, the game ends once the created ones are cleared.
How to Make a Puzzle Screen
Place bubbles anywhere on the field to create original designs. You can save up to 30 original screens.
1. Choose Make A Map to finalize selection.
2. Move the cursor with the D-Pad
