You play as an officer tasked with managing both the military and local city affairs. As you progress through your career, you'll take on increasingly powerful roles, including becoming the French First Consul and eventually Emperor. Your success is determined by gaining the support of the people, allowing you to rise in rank.

The gameplay revolves around building and organizing a loyal military force, leading them into battle against neighboring countries, and managing taxes and stipends. However, you must also contend with internal threats such as military uprisings, strikes, rebellions, and weather-related challenges like harsh winters and natural disasters. Failure to succeed results in capture or death.
