Asterix at the Olympic Games has it all - love, betrayal, and ancient Roman mayhem. Lovestorix is smitten with Princess Irina, but Brutus is hot on her heels, threatening to ruin the romance. To settle the matter, the princess proposes a marriage to whoever wins the Olympic Games. Meanwhile, the evil Doctormabus has discovered a dimensional key that could destroy the balance between worlds.
The game's gameplay is action-packed and varied, with players switching between Asterix and Obelix on the fly. The duo must fight their way through hordes of Romans, building combos and solving small riddles along the way. As part of the Olympic Games, players also participate in mini-games like Long Jump and Tug of War, which are reminiscent of classic Asterix & Obelix gameplay. Story mode allows players to progress through the narrative, collecting helmets by destroying scenery objects or beating up Romans. These helmets can be used to buy health or new combos, unlocking small parts of the movie along the way. New characters for Olympic Mode can also be unlocked as players advance.
Asterix at the Olympic Games takes creative liberties with its storyline, opting not to follow the comic book or movie narratives directly. Instead, it incorporates actors from the movie into the game's world, adding a unique twist to the classic Asterix & Obelix formula.
