Asterix at the Olympic Games lets you control both Asterix and Obelix as they fight their way through hordes of Romans to win the heart of Princess Irina. The evil Doctormabus has also discovered a dimensional key that threatens to destroy the balance between worlds, but our heroes come to the rescue.
The gameplay is similar to Asterix & Obélix XXL 2: Mission: Las Vegum, with you building up combos with punches and solving small riddles. You can switch between controlling Asterix or Obelix at any time, but there are also several mini-games waiting to be completed in the Olympic Games. These events are played much like in Asterix and Obelix, requiring you to alternate between two buttons as fast as possible.
During story mode, collecting helmets allows you to buy health or new combos, unlock parts of the movie, and even get new characters for the Olympic Mode. However, the game doesn't follow the storyline of the comic or movie directly, and instead uses the portal twist to include actors from the film.
Olympic Games also features a separate mode where two players (or one player against the CPU) compete in each discipline for the gold medal. This adds an extra layer of challenge and excitement to the game.
