Set in an alternate universe where World War II never ended, Metal Slug Anthology follows the story of a group of elite soldiers as they fight against the evil organization known as the "Black Lagoon". The team is led by Captain F. S. Price and includes his trusted comrades, such as Max, Eri, Clark, and Tarma. As they journey through various territories, they must confront their enemies and uncover the secrets behind the Black Lagoon's sinister plans.

The gameplay of Metal Slug Anthology is fast-paced and action-packed, with an emphasis on side-scrolling combat. Players control one of five characters, each with their unique abilities and strengths. The game features a variety of levels, from desert landscapes to urban cities, each with its own set of challenges and enemies.
