Splinter Cell: Double Agent puts you in the shoes of Sam Fisher, an agent who has been turned. Your mission is to stop a plot that threatens National Security while navigating your new double life.
Gameplay involves sneaking around and taking out enemies without being detected. You can choose to play stealthily or go all-out with guns blazing, as the experience will be different each time you play. Make choices that lead to one of three possible endings, depending on how you handle certain situations. Your journey takes you to various locations such as a prison, a boat in Cozumel, and Africa.
You'll have access to an array of gadgets to help you complete your mission. Use these tools to turn off lights, electrify enemies in water areas, or scan your surroundings using different vision modes (electric, night vision, heat vision) to identify potential gameplay objects around the world.
This version of Splinter Cell: Double Agent differs from the Xbox 360/Windows release. Both share the same engine but offer additional features such as an extra single-player mission with a unique ending, a new Spies vs. Spies online mode, co-op multiplayer, LAN support, and more cinematics. Note that the Wii/GameCube versions have exclusive co-op multiplayer options.
The Spies vs. Spies multiplayer offers several game modes:
Deathmatch: regular matches.
Team Deathmatch: regular team matches.
Key Run: similar to Team Hack, but with the addition of a key that needs to be obtained first to hack into the opponent's computer.
Sam Vs. All: a single-player mode where Sam Fisher has to sneakily hack into computers defended by an entire team.
Countdown: similar to Deathmatch, with the addition of gameplay time provided by killing other players.
