Madden NFL 25 is the successor to Madden NFL 13 in the NFL American football series. It uses different numbering in the series to mark the 25th anniversary of the series, but it's largely a regular incremental upgrade in content. The Xbox 360 version uses the same engine as other versions and was released on August 30, 2013. This yearly update includes graphical tweaks, a full roster update, and new features.
The most notable addition is the ability to play as the owner of a team in the Connected Franchise mode. Previously, it was possible to customize and be a player or coach, with up to 32 players online simultaneously. Now, you must manage the larger overall management, including customizing personalities, media strategy, finances, staff, and possible re-location. Most existing game modes return in an enhanced form, such as Madden Ultimate Team, where the online season is combined with a trading-card game.
The game features an upgraded Infinity Engine to manage player animations, team AI, and physics. The controls have been tweaked with the addition of a run-free mechanic, allowing players to perform various modifiers like jukes, spins, dives, stiff arms, and trucks based on individual player statistics. These modifiers make movement less linear and can be combined for larger runs. New practice modes are available, including the option to lock onto enemy ball carriers on defense.
