Need for Speed: Most Wanted is a racing game where you must gain notoriety by racing in the streets and attracting police attention to rise through the Black List of illegal racers. Your goal is to face off against number one, Razor, who tricked you out of your car and used it to reach the top.

The gameplay involves various racing modes, including Milestones, where you must evade capture and disable police cars by bringing down Pursuit Breakers. You'll need to win a specific number of events against 15 Blacklisted opponents to progress. You can invest bet money to buy new cars or improve your existing one's performance.

The game features Josie Maran as the racer girl, replacing Brooke Burke from previous games. The plot is furthered through use of FMV video with live actors and digital sets, which has been enhanced for a more realistic look.
