The city of Jersey is in trouble when the evil Dr. Knarf and his pumpkin-headed assistant Dennis take over. Dr. Knarf 's creation, mutant vegetables, run amok throughout the city, and only the famous devil can save it.
The game's theme is Halloween, and the objective is to catch Dr. Knarf . The player must use color keys with letters "K", "N", "A", R", and "F" to open "K" Locks, which reveals Dr. Knarf . Each area in Jersey City has two levels, each with its own boss or bosses. These areas include the Art Museum, the City Park, the Graveyard, the Factory, the Seaport, and Dr. Knarf 's own forest.
The player can also free hostages that were captured by Dr. Knarf 's army, including children. Pick-up Nitro Crates to enhance the devil's strength. To complete the game 100%, the player must beat all areas, find and beat all secret levels, free all hostages, destroy all Nitro Crates in all levels, and collect golden Knarf tokens from all levels.
Jersey Devil was released on May 31st, 1998, for the PlayStation console.
