Red Asphalt is a racing and combat game with a post-apocalyptic futuristic theme. Players are transported to a world where cars have become the primary means of survival, and they must fight for dominance on the roads.

The game features 24 tracks, each with its own unique challenges, and allows players to choose from six characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Each character has different driving skills, tactical skills, and aggression levels, which can be upgraded using cash won in races. Players can also purchase six vehicles, each with its own improvements, such as better engines, armor, tires, suspension, and weapons.

Red Asphalt is the direct sequel to Rock'n Roll Racing , although it has a distinct style and gameplay that sets it apart from its predecessor.

The game was released on the PlayStation in November 1998 for the UK market.
