Ultraman , a classic action & adventure game for the Famicom Disk System, puts players in the shoes of Science Patrol Officer Hayate as he battles to defend Earth from massive hostile alien monsters. The story follows Hayate's quest to save the planet with his trusty alter ego, Ultraman .
The gameplay revolves around navigating through eleven different timed stages, where Hayate must shoot enemies to collect beta capsules and other power-ups. Collecting these items fills up a meter, allowing Hayate to transform into Ultraman , the only character capable of defeating the large boss monsters. However, this transformation comes with a time limit – three minutes to defeat the current stage.
A unique feature of the game is its horizontal scrolling shooter stages, adding an extra layer of challenge and excitement to the gameplay. The game's difficulty level increases when playing as Dan Moroboshi in his Ultra-Seven form, requiring players to be more precise with their shots.
The original release of Ultraman was followed by a re-release on a disk writer kiosk, featuring altered background music. Despite the changes, the game remains an entertaining and challenging experience for retro gaming enthusiasts.
