Yoshi's Island is under attack by the evil King Bowser's spell, turning its inhabitants into mindless slaves. Only Yoshi has escaped, and it's up to him to free his friends and defeat Bowser to break the spell. The game Tetris Attack features a colorful cast of characters from Yoshi's Island, delivering fast-paced action and puzzle-solving.
The gameplay is simple yet challenging: a stack of blocks continuously rises from the bottom of the screen, and you control a cursor that can swap any two blocks horizontally. Your goal is to make rows or columns of three or more blocks clear, potentially creating combos with new blocks falling into place. However, beware – combos will also send large garbage blocks to your opponent, which must be cleared by making a piece touch it.
The game offers a range of modes to suit different players: single-player against the computer, 2-player versus mode, an endless mode where you keep playing until you run out of lives, a timed mode where you have to clear a certain number of blocks within a time limit, and a puzzle mode where you have to clear a set arrangement of blocks in a specific number of moves. The game is based on the Japan-only title Panel de Pon.
