The action is viewed from the traditional third-person viewpoint. A tutorial mode is provided to help you get used to the forehand, lob and drop shots on offer. Several venues from all over the world can be played on, on Hard, Grass and Clay courts.

This was a unique release for its time, allowing four-way gameplay without special adapters – it featured two built-in joypad connectors in a special J-Cart cartridge. The Game Gear version also allowed for local multiplayer options, such as two players sharing one console or four players playing doubles by linking two machines.
