Stargate is a handheld puzzle game where players drop tiles into a Stargate, trying to stack three identical symbols. When successful, these tiles are cleared from the screen. If mismatched tiles are stacked too high, they will overflow and the player loses. The player also has a seven-symbol Stargate "address" along the top of the screen, which can be completed by stacking three copies of each symbol listed on it.
The game features two main modes: Skill Mode, where players aim to complete as many addresses as possible before being overwhelmed, and Battle Mode. In Battle Mode, players can challenge either the computer or another player using a link cable. The objective is to outlast your opponent by sending cleared stacks through the Stargate and overflowing their gate first.
