Battletoads

The Dark Queen has attacked and kidnapped your best buddy, along with the most beautiful girl around. To make matters worse, she's taken them both away from you. What will you do? Cry, whine, or hide? No! Because you're a Battletoad. They don't cry, hide, or show weakness. Instead, they become angry and determined to get revenge.

You'll control a battletoad through 13 levels, each with its own unique challenges. Five of these levels are missing from the Game Boy port, making them exclusive to other versions. The gameplay involves side-scrolling beat-em-ups, vertical drops down shafts where you fight your way down, and even riding a rocket or surfboard while shooting or avoiding enemies. At the end of each area, there's a boss waiting for you. Some areas also have a mini-boss halfway through.
