Driver 2 Advance is a handheld adaptation of the original Driver 2 for the Game Boy Advance. The game's storyline has been condensed, with Tanner investigating the murder of a Brazilian criminal, leading him to face both a Brazilian gang and the Chicago mob.
The gameplay in Driver 2 Advance remains largely faithful to the original, with individual missions that require completing tasks such as quickly moving to a location, following another car, or ramming a car. Goals vary across different types of missions, including pick-up and delivery jobs. The cities are rendered in texture-mapped 3D, with cars and pedestrians displayed as sprites.
