The Simpsons: Road Rage has been released for the Game Boy Advance, two years after its initial console release. The game retains the core concept of Crazy Taxi but with a reduced selection of drivers and cars, new playing modes, and unique graphics.
Players take on the role of a taxi driver, aiming to pick up passengers and drop them off at their destination within a time limit, earning money in the process. Bonuses are awarded for arrival speed and precision landing. Special objectives can appear during fares, such as hitting a certain number of cars or avoiding traffic altogether.
The game features two main modes: Road Rage and Performance Mode. In Road Rage, players must deliver passengers to their destination within a time limit, earning cash along the way. In Performance Mode, players are tasked with giving each passenger an exciting ride, taking into account their individual preferences for jumps, hitting cars, and roadside objects.
Mission Mode is similar to the console version, with ten missions that feature specific characters and goals, such as driving over objects or racing courses, all within a time limit. The game also includes a Head-to-Head multiplayer mode via link cable, where two players compete to pick up a single passenger and deliver them to their destination.
The game features 16 different vehicles driven by 15 Simpsons characters, with six locations based on those from the console game, but with some differences in track layout. Players can unlock more vehicles, locations, and extras, such as a car color editor, through Road Rage mode and Performance Mode.
