Godzilla is a 16-bit action-adventure game where the player takes control of Toho's famous big green lizard as they rampage through Japan. The game has two main gameplay modes: Movement and Battle . In Movement , the player travels through the city using the D-pad and a map located on the bottom of the screen, with the objective of destroying enemy humans and buildings while picking up power-ups. The results of the player's movements and attacks are shown above the map.
Battle mode is activated when an enemy like Biollante or Mechagodzilla is encountered on the map, taking the player to a side-scrolling cinematic-style battle where punches, tail whips, and fire breath are used to drain the energy of the opposing monster. The Fighting Spirit system is present, acting as a morality meter that requires the player to choose the right attacks at the right time to connect with certain attacks. Failing to do so will cause the meter to drop, making Godzilla more vulnerable.
Godzilla was released on the Super Famicom in 1994 and is part of a series of Godzilla games.
