How to Play
Main Menu Options
At the Title Screen, press the B Button to view the Main Menu. Press the Control Pad Left or Right to highlight an option, or press the Select Button to go to the Options Screen. Press START to select one of these three options:
•

PRESS START TO SELECT

PRESS SELECT FOR OPTIONS
Enter Name
This option first takes you to the Player Setup Screen. Up to 4 players can press the D-Pad Left or Right to select a player position. Press START to go to the Enter Name Screen.
This process allows the game to accumulate your personal stats each time you enter your name and pin number prior to the game.
If you've created a player character, enter the name you chose when you created your player. The game will make that character available at the Select Team Screen.
Create a Player
This option lets you create your own character and take on the NBA's best players, or modify a previously created player. Prior to any game you play, you can enter your created player's name and pin number to make them available at the Team Select Screen. Press your Control Pad Up or Down to highlight options, then press the B Button to select.
The following options are available to create your player:
•
Enter Name/Pin: Create a name and personal pin number. Press your Control Pad Up, Down, Left or Right to highlight characters, then press the B Button to select. Repeat until up to six characters are entered. Select the blank area to separate letters or the arrow icon to delete mistakes.
•
Attributes: Press your Control Pad Up or Down to highlight an attribute, and Left or Right to adjust skill points. To increase an attribute, you must reduce points in other attributes to free up available points. Players created to be very tall do not appear larger during the game, but still play with the advantages and disadvantages of taller players.
•
Privileges: Select 2 of the 5 available privileges for your new player. Press your Control Pad Up or Down to highlight a privilege, and Left or Right to select.
•
New Pin: Change your player's pin number.
•
New Name: Change your player's name.
•
Save/Exit: Save your modifications. Select YES to confirm and exit or NO to return to the Create Player options.
Player Privileges
•
No Tag Arrow: Removes the possession arrow above your created player's head during the game, making your player harder for opponents to locate on and off screen.
•
Stealth Turbo: Removes the turbo gauge from the top of the screen and prevents your player's shoes from changing color, hiding your remaining turbo from your opponent.
•
Hide Attributes: Prevents your opponent from seeing your distribution of attribute points at the Select Team Screen.
•
Super Rebound: Gives your player a greater chance of getting loose balls, offensive rebounds, and defensive rebounds.
•
Smarter Drone: Makes your CPU-controlled teammate play smarter and better than the average drone. You must defeat all 29 NBA teams before you can select this privilege.
Options Screen
Make modifications to your game's default configuration. Press your Control Pad Up or Down to highlight the option you want to change, then Control Pad Left or Right to toggle the settings:
•
Clock Speed: Adjust the speed of the games. Select a setting higher than the default Normal setting to speed up the quarters, or lower it for a slower clock.
•
Drone Difficulty: Set the difficulty level for the CPU players. The default setting is Normal.
•
Music: Turn the music volume level up or down.
•
Computer Assistance: When turned ON, a CPU-controlled team will step up their intensity to close the gap if you achieve a large lead, keeping the games competitive.
Selecting Your Team
The Select Team Screen displays the players and teams available in the game. Press your Control Pad Up or Down to move the team you want over the red or blue center line in the selection window. Press Control Pad Left or Right to select one of the 20 available 2-man squads for the team you chose.
As you cycle through the squads, their player attributes appear in the window below their faces. When you find the players you want, press START to select them and go to the Match Up Screen.
Tonight's Matchup
The Matchup Screen displays the names and logos of the two competing teams. At the bottom left portion of the screen, there is a three-digit area to enter special codes.
You can enter codes by pressing the following buttons:
•
Y Button (first digit)
•
B Button (second digit)
•
A Button (third digit)
Cool Moves
•
On Fire: If a player or team is On Fire at the end of a quarter, they will still be On Fire to start the next quarter.
•
Player Attributes: A player's attributes indicate their best skills. A good shooter makes more 3-pointers, a power player gets more rebounds and is harder to clear out, and a dunker performs higher, more exciting dunks.
•
The Double Dunk: To perform this move, the player without the ball must press the Turbo and Shoot Button to jump high toward the net behind the teammate carrying the ball. The ball carrier must then press the Pass Button to dish off to the teammate behind him.
Substitution
At half time, you have the opportunity to substitute one or both players. You cannot change teams, but you can select different players from your chosen team. At the Substitution Screen, press your Control Pad Left or Right to cycle through the available players,

boost the power and height of your jump (when tapped quickly during a jump ball)
Jump Button

Tips & Maps
Passing
Make sure your teammate is open when passing to work as a team and avoid turnovers. You can press the Pass Button while driving to the hoop to dish the ball off or escape defenders.
Rebounding
Time your jumps by pressing the Shoot and Turbo Buttons together to grab the ball. On offensive rebounds, follow your shot and press the Shoot Button while in the air to try for a quick putback.
Blocking Shots
Time the opponent's shot, step in front of them, and press the Shoot Button. Press the Shoot and Turbo Buttons together to block players who are high in the air.
Head Fake
Quickly tap the Shoot Button to execute this move. It can cause your opponent to mis-time their block attempt.
Protecting the Ball
Quickly tap the Turbo Button to grasp the ball hard and move it from side-to-side. This makes it more difficult for your opponent to steal the ball when you have to hold up.
Hard Contact
Press the Turbo and Pass Button to knock your opponent down. This move can help create a turnover by potentially loosening the ball.
The Alley Oop!
Press the Pass Button when your teammate jumps and flashes in the air as you drive toward the net. You can also press Turbo and the Shoot Button together to go up for the catch yourself.
On Fire!
Sinking three consecutive hoops puts a player On Fire, giving them a much greater chance of making any shot until the opposing team scores. Achieving three consecutive Alley Oops or Double Dunks triggers Team Fire, putting both players on fire until the opponents complete an Alley Oop or Double Dunk.
