Based on the popular anime and manga, this martial arts fighting game follows Ranma Saotome, a teenage martial artist cursed to transform into a girl when splashed with cold water. To escape his high school final exams, Ranma must accept a challenge from his unscrupulous principal to defeat eight other cursed and eccentric martial artists in combat. Players control Ranma and his rivals, utilizing their unique martial arts skills and transformations to win the tournament.
Story
The Curse of the Accursed Springs
Ranma Saotome is a proud, 16-year-old martial artist trained by his father, Genma. During a training trip to a remote part of China, the two discovered the "Training Ground of the Accursed Springs." Anyone who falls into these cursed springs transforms into whatever haunted the spring whenever they are splashed with cold water. Warm water temporarily reverses the effect.
During their training, Ranma knocked Genma into a spring, and Genma emerged as a giant panda. The panda then knocked Ranma into another spring, cursing the boy to transform into a red-haired girl whenever he gets wet with cold water. While Ranma desperately wants to cure his curse, Genma enjoys loafing around as a panda.
The Tendo School and the Arrangement
Upon returning to Japan, Genma and Ranma visited the Tendo Martial Arts School. Genma had previously arranged a marriage between Ranma and Akane, one of the owner's three daughters.
Both Ranma and Akane resist the arrangement, but they try to get on with their lives. They attend high school, hang out with friends, and avoid their enemies. The Tendo girls are fully aware of Ranma's secret transformation.
The Cast of Characters
•
Ranma Saotome: A highly skilled but prideful 16-year-old martial artist. His pride and insensitive attitude often get him into trouble. He transforms into a girl when splashed with cold water.
•
Genma Saotome: Ranma's father. He is a prideful, selfish martial artist looking forward to a comfortable retirement. He transforms into a giant panda.
•
Akane Tendo: A 16-year-old tomboy who excels at martial arts and beats up boys who ask her out. She secretly likes Ranma.
•
Ryoga: Ranma's primary rival who suffers from a terrible sense of direction. He followed Ranma to China, fell into a cursed spring, and now transforms into a little black pig. Akane adopted him as a pet, unaware of his true identity, and named him P-Chan.
•
Shampoo: A Chinese martial artist who traveled to Japan for revenge against Ranma, but ended up falling in love with him. She also fell into a cursed spring and now transforms into a cat. She and Akane are instant rivals.
•
The Principal: Ranma's unscrupulous high school principal who spends too much time in Hawaii.
The Principal's Challenge
The principal has promised to excuse Ranma from his final exams, but only if he can defeat eight other students in martial arts. He has made similar promises to the other students as well, though he is not known for keeping his word.

Tips & Maps
RANMA SAOTOME
Thinking that he would be excused from school exams if he could beat the fighters chosen by the principal, Ranma firmly resolved to devote his time to martial arts training, rather than to the pursuit of academic discipline.
RYOGA HIBIKI
Ryoga, the wanderer, accidentally lost his memory. He was taken in by the principal's slick talk and fooled into fighting faces from his past - even Akane, his heart-throb!
SHAMPOO
Even though she puts a lot of energy into researching arcane potions, Shampoo has yet to enchant Ranma's heart. Then, she discovered the great tradition of Chinese proverbs!
AKANE TENDO
Akane is surrounded as usual by a hoard of boys asking her for a date. Her daily routine is to blast them off with a single blow.
GENMA SAOTOME
Having a rebellious son like Ranma has been a big headache and heartache for Genma Saotome. After hearing the principal's pep talk, Genma resolved to achieve his ultimate strength by any means available.
HIKARU GOSUNKUGI
When it comes to gloom and doom, Hikaru Gosunkugi is number one on the list at Furinkan High School. With a push from the principal, he's ready for his own personal pursuit, completely armed with candles tightly secured to his head.
BAKUCHIOH KING (KING OF GAMBLING)
The King, a loser by nature, hasn't given up on his ambition to own a casino and has been trying to improve his skill in foul play.
UKKYO KUONJI
Ukkyo owns a Japanese pancake (Okonomiyaki) restaurant and her business interest has been stimulated by the principal's slick talk.
MOUSSE
A magician whose life in Japan has got to be exciting, yet still he feels unfulfilled and consulted a suspicious-looking fortune teller.
PANTYHOSE TARO
Pantyhose was given his name by Happosai, a mischievous elderly martial arts master, and wants to make him take the name back and give him a new one.
PANTYHOSE TARO (TRANSFORMED)
Pantyhose fell into a spring haunted by a bull, a duck, a snake and a yeti, resulting in a combination that might be more embarrassing than his name.
