Sparkster is a 2D side-scrolling platformer starring Sparkster , the eponymous hero from Rocket Knight Adventures. It has completely different levels, enemies, and gameplay mechanics compared to the Genesis title, making it a spin-off in the series.
The game follows Sparkster, an opossum carrying a rocket pack on his back, as he chases after a girl and her elderly captor who are taken aboard their airship. Sparkster can move around, duck, jump, and hang from branches or rails.
Gameplay involves moving around, ducking, jumping, and using the L and R buttons to dash left and right in a circle of fire. Holding down the attack button powers up a rocket meter, which can be used for different actions when full, such as dashing left or right, or a stationary attack.
The game consists of nine levels, with two of them only accessible on higher difficulty levels. Sparkster collects diamonds for points, defeats robot enemies, and gathers apples to restore his heart meter near the top of the screen. The gameplay is mostly platforming, with some sections where Sparkster rides a robot bird or flies in the air like a vertically-scrolling shooter.
All levels feature a level boss and several mid-level bosses. The game supports a password system for replayability.

In this action-adventure platformer, players control Sparkster, the bravest of the elite Rocket Knights, who has trained to become an even more powerful warrior. When the villainous Wolf Army stages a coup in the kingdom of Eginasem, the player must embark on a perilous journey to rescue the fleeing Princess Flora. To save the world, players must utilize Sparkster's advanced fighting techniques to defeat the invaders and protect a legendary peace-preserving pendant.
Story
Sparkster's Legend
Sparkster earned his reputation among the elite order of Rocket Knights as their bravest fighter when he destroyed the spaceship Pig Star. This war machine was created by Emperor Devligus Devotindos in his vain attempt to rule the universe.
People have since passed down the story of the young, valiant Sparkster from generation to generation. But his brave tale didn't end with his defeat of the Devotindos army.
The Wolf Army's Coup
A few years after that momentous battle, the Wolf Armyβled by Generalissimo Lionessβcarried out a coup d'etat in the mechanically advanced kingdom of Eginasem.
King Esinasemu possessed a pendant believed to have the power to preserve peace, which had been passed down through the generations. He entrusted this pendant to Princess Flora and sent her away from the embattled castle.
A New Journey
As these events took place, Sparkster was training and studying day and night. He developed new fighting techniques and grew into an even more powerful Rocket Knight.
Now, you can join the adventure! Take over as Sparkster departs on his journey to prevent the Wolf Army from conquering the world, and rescue Princess Flora.
How to Play
Game Overview
This game pits the legendary Rocket Knight Sparkster against the Wolf Army that is attempting to conquer the world. Our hero's mission is to save Princess Flora.

This is a single-player game.

You have three Sparkster units at the start of the game.

There are a total of nine stages with a Boss at the end of each stage. Defeat the Boss to clear the stage.

The opposing army and diverse traps stand in Sparkster's way. Use sword attacks, jumps and rocket attacks to stay out of their way.
Life and Game Over
Sparkster is damaged when he runs into Wolf soldiers, takes a bullet hit or is hit by a trap. The hearts of the Life gauge (upper right of the screen) decrease as Sparkster is damaged. When the Life gauge is completely empty, you lose a life.
The game ends when there are no remaining Sparksters. A password will be displayed. Since you will need to input this password later to continue play, write it down so that you won't forget it.
Starting the Game
To start the game, insert the game Pak into your Super Nintendo Entertainment System and switch the power ON. The demo screen will appear followed by the title screen.

To launch the game, press the Control Pad up/down at the Title screen to move the cursor to START, then press the START button.

Select PASSWORD at the Title screen, use Sparkster's attacks to input the symbols on the Password screen, and then go to the exit at the bottom right.
