Battle Mode Selection
You can select from the following 5 modes on the title screen:
Super Battle
This is the standard game mode. Select a player from among 16 characters and fight your way to victory.
Versus Battle
This is a 2-player versus mode. You can select characters for each match, and battle records will be displayed.
You can select stages and set handicaps. You can also have the computer play instead of a player.
Group Battle
This is a 2-player versus mode where you fight in team battles. The battle modes are MATCH (round-robin) and ELIMINATION (survival).
The number of players can be selected from 1 to 8, matches are decided in 1 round, and draws can occur. Character selection can be set to either MANUAL or AUTO using the Select Button.
In MATCH, the game ends as soon as a winner is determined. In ELIMINATION, the game continues until the opponent is defeated. You can select stages and set handicaps.
Tournament Battle
This is an 8-bracket tournament mode where you can select from 0 to 8 players. If there are fewer than 8 entries, the computer will play the remaining slots.
The computer will select characters for its slots, and the tournament bracket order is determined randomly. Matches are decided in 1 round.
In the event of a draw, the computer will judge the match content to determine the winner. Each character fights 3 battles.
Game Rules
Each round has a time limit of 99 counts (66 seconds), played as a best-of-three match. An option is available to set the time limit to infinite.
The 4th round is the final round, and the winner of that round unconditionally advances. If a decision is still not reached in that round (WKO, Draw), it will result in a Game Over.
When vitality is depleted and the will to stand up is lost, it is a K.O., and one round is lost.
If a match is not decided within the time limit, the player with the most remaining vitality is declared the winner. This is only applicable when there is a time limit.
In the case of a TOURNAMENT BATTLE, if a draw occurs, the computer will judge the match content to determine the winner. Everyone, unleash your full power and fight a battle with no regrets.
Mid-Game Entry
If you start in SUPER BATTLE, you can join in at any time. To join mid-game, press the Start Button on the control pad of the player (1P or 2P) who is not currently playing.
Continue and Game Over
If you lose 2 rounds out of a 3-round match, it is Game Over, and the screen transitions to the Continue screen (or the score display area during a 2-player game).
If you press the Start Button before the timer reaches 0, you can continue. If you press any button other than the Start Button, the continue will be canceled.
