Mario Golf: Advance Tour is a golf game that lets players create their own custom characters and experience golf by progressing through an RPG-like story.
The ultimate goal of the story is to make your player climb through the ranks of the various clubs, ultimately reaching the goal of the elite Mushroom Kingdom golfers, such as Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, and of course Mario. It's possible to earn experience for either character by playing through rounds of golf, or by successfully completing various types of mini-games and contests that help you hone your putting, swing, and other golf skills.
Distributing experience is more difficult now, as you have to make sure that both characters are sufficiently levelled up so that you can succeed in double matches as well as solo games. Advance Tour also links up to Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour for the Nintendo GameCube, allowing players to earn even more experience points by transferring their characters over and playing the various modes in Toadstool Tour.
Players can also link up with another copy of Advance Tour for GBA multiplayer, adding a social element to the game. With its unique blend of golf and RPG elements, Mario Golf: Advance Tour offers a fun and challenging experience for players.
Advance Tour was released on June 22, 2004 for the Game Boy Advance console.

Game Guide
Extracted from the original game manual
This competitive golf game challenges players to level up custom characters and partners by winning various singles and doubles tournaments against club champions. Progressing through these match-play modes unlocks new rivalries and ultimately aims to make the player the number-one seed, earning the prestige of a potential match against Mario and his crew.
Story
Story
In this mode, players power up their characters by playing competitive golf. With the Marion Club as your home course, compete against club champions from all of the major clubs to learn the game, enhance your skills, and go for top honors.
To become the ultimate golfer, the number-one seed! If you pull it off, you may someday be invited to play against Mario and his crew.
Story Modes
Once you've created your character, select Story from the main menu and the Story mode-selection screen will appear.
•
Club Lodge: Room from club to club, challenging rivals and striving to become the ultimate golfer.
•
Singles Tourney: Enter as a single in the club tourneys. If you place third or better in one of the tourneys, you become eligible to participate in a more advanced one.
•
Doubles Cup: You and your partner compete in doubles tournaments! Alternate shots through the course.
•
Singles Match Play: Compete against club champions in head-to-head match-play competitions. If you beat one of the champs, you'll become eligible to challenge another one.
•
Doubles Match Play: You and your partner compete against other club doubles champions head-to-head in match-play competitions! Beat a champ team to become eligible to challenge another.

Gain Experience Points and Level Up!
As you save up the experience points you get in each mode of the Story, you'll steadily increase the levels of your character and partner. Make them both as strong as possible so they can become ultimate golfers.
If you get experience points, press Left or Right on + to choose who you want to give them to. Then, press Up and Down to distribute the points. Once you're done, press A to finish.
Please note: the meters always recalculate to reflect how many points you need to level up. On the Level Up screen, you can apply your character's new experience levels to different abilities. Select the ability you wish to improve and press A to apply.
The results from singles tourneys, doubles cups, singles matches, and doubles matches will affect the progression of your story in Club Lodge mode. From the Story mode-selection screen, if you enter and play a singles tourney and win, the game will record that you beat the tourney in Club Lodge mode, too.

Tips & Maps
Want to Alter Distances?
If you can't find a club with the exact distance you want, use L or R to adjust the range marker above the power meter. Use this as a target to time your swing for shorter distances.
Adjust Range Marker
Press R to shift the marker to the right, which changes the simulation line automatically. Press A to start the swing and press A or B when the cursor reaches the set range marker to perform an auto-swing or manual swing.
Wind
Check wind speed and direction as it drastically changes shot flight. Since the simulation line does not account for wind, use L, R, or the D-pad to adjust your shot distance and direction to compensate for drift.
Adjusting the Impact Point
Press and hold B to enter impact-marker mode and adjust the impact marker with the D-pad to change trajectory and spin. You must set the actual impact point during the backswing for the changes to occur.
Change Impact Marker
Hold B and move the impact marker with the D-pad to aim, then press B to start the swing. Use B and the D-pad to move the red dot during the swing to hit the impact point inside the marker, then set power by pressing A for auto-swing or B for manual swing.
