MotoGP 08 is the successor to THQ's motorcycle racing game MotoGP '07 and features the full licensed MotoGP, 250cc and 125cc classes. The game is based on a 5-year deal with Dorna Sports that grants Capcom the worldwide rights for all hardware platforms. The gameplay revolves around the career mode, where the player creates a character, chooses a bike and helmet, and starts in the 125cc class with the goal of racing to the top of the MotoGP class in five years. The player can unlock new content and gain career points by completing successful races, which can be invested into bike upgrades.
Other game modes include:* Time Trial - Beat the time records on the different tracks.* Tournament - Create a driver or choose a driver from the 2008 season to compete in a series of races.* Challenges - 50 challenges in seven categories that demand a great deal of skill and strategy to unlock additional game content.
The game also features a multiplayer mode for up to 12 players, which is exclusive to certain platforms. The game introduces new tracks, including the US Indianapolis track and night racing at the Qatar circuit.
