Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX is a Game Boy Advance adaptation of Tony-Hawk-style BMX game based on earlier versions. The game offers mostly the same game modes but in different and larger levels, with the addition of two-player modes for the first time. Players can select from eight professional BMX riders, each with different stats and signature moves.
Gameplay involves completing training in 19 levels to learn basic riding skills and tricks, as well as playing through Career mode which consists of six levels. To unlock later levels, players must collect magazine covers by achieving specific goals within a time limit, including reaching high scores, collecting letters, finding secret covers, and performing tricks without bailing.
The game features various modes, including Tournament mode where players must impress judges to land in the top three for each level, Free Ride mode where unlocked levels can be practiced without a time limit, and Time Trial mode where players must reach a finish line within a tight time limit by performing tricks.
