Mazes of Fate is a fantasy medieval first person "dungeon-crawler" RPG where you create a character based on gender, class and attributes to set out on a quest to save humanity from oblivion. The game's story revolves around the ancient gods' judgment, which sentences mankind to be replaced by a new, less sinful race. The only chance for redemption lies with a magical item that has been stolen by humanity's enemies.
The game alternates between world and town map sequences where you control your party from an overhead perspective, visiting shops and getting quests from NPCs, as well as exploring dungeons composed of the bulk of the game itself. When dungeon crawling, the game switches to a first-person perspective, allowing you to control your party as it fights monsters and loots treasures.
Combat is real-time, with the game pausing while navigating action menus. Features loads of items, weapons, and quests, as well as tons of monsters and up to 5 recruit-able party members. The Game Boy Advance version offers a unique experience compared to the Nintendo DS version, which utilizes a 3D engine and adds new secret dungeon areas and entire new dungeon maps.
