Set in 1958, Silent Hill Homecoming follows Joseph Schreiber, a returning U.S. Army veteran who returns to his hometown of Silent Hill after serving overseas. He is haunted by nightmares and suffers from what seems like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Upon his return, he begins to uncover the dark secrets behind his hometown's troubled past.
The game takes place in a vast open world that includes both familiar locations and new areas. The gameplay is action-adventure based with a mix of combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving. Joseph must fight against monstrous creatures known as the "Incubators", which are the product of a mysterious force known as "Athena". Players will also need to solve puzzles to progress through the story.
