MotoGP is the successor to THQ's motorcycle racing game MotoGP '07 and features the full licensed classes, based on a 5-year deal with Dorna Sports that grants Capcom the worldwide rights for all hardware platforms.
The game's story follows a player who creates a character, chooses a bike and helmet, and starts in the 125cc class with the goal to race to the top of the MotoGP class in five years. After each successful race, the player unlocks new content and gains career points that can be invested into bike upgrades.
The gameplay includes various modes such as:
Time Trial - Beat the time records on different tracks
Tournament - Create a driver or choose one from the 2008 season to compete in a series of races
Challenges - 50 challenges in seven categories that demand a great deal of skill to unlock additional game content
The game also features a multiplayer mode for up to 12 players, making it the first in the series to appear on the Wii. New tracks and features include the US Indianapolis track and night racing at the Qatar circuit.
