Super Smash Bros. Melee is the sequel to HAL Laboratory's Super Smash Bros., which pits Nintendo characters against each other. The game features more levels, characters, and game modes than its predecessor. In this Nintendo fighting game, players knock their opponents out of the battlefield instead of reducing their health.
Players can choose from a wide range of Nintendo characters, including Mario, Bowser, Yoshi, different Pokémon, and Link. They can then engage in single-player battles featuring modes like Classic, Adventure, and Event Mode, or battle friends in four-player frenzies. Unlocking more characters and stages is possible by completing hidden objectives and earning coins, which can be spent on a capsule toy machine representing games from Nintendo's entire video game history.
The gameplay of Super Smash Bros. Melee features simplified fighting controls, making it accessible to non-gamers. Playable characters come from various Nintendo games, including Game & Watch, Donkey Kong, Mario Bros., and The Legend of Zelda. This diverse cast adds to the excitement of the game.
