Pac-Man, released on January 1st, 1978 for the Atari 2600 console, is an arcade game that stars a little, yellow dot-muncher who works his way around a maze to clear it of various dots and fruit. The main objective is to evade four ghosts: Bashful (blue), Shadow (red), Speedy (pink), and Pokey (orange). One touch from any of these ghosts results in loss of life for Pac-Man. However, the player can turn the tables by eating one of the Power-Pills located around the maze.
The game features a limited-time period during which the ghosts turn blue and become vulnerable to Pac-Man's attacks, allowing for bonus points. After this time, the ghosts' eyes regenerate, and they resume their pursuit of Pac-Man.
Surviving several rounds of gameplay rewards players with humorous intermissions starring Pac-Man and the ghosts.
