Pilotwings Resort is a flight simulation game that takes place on Wuhu Island, a location from Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus. It uses the Mii character created in the Mii Maker on the Nintendo 3DS. The player can explore the island using different aircraft, with each vehicle offering unique controls and challenges.
In Pilotwings Resort , players can engage in either Free Flight Mode or Mission Mode. In Free Flight Mode, they can visit landmarks, collect diorama's of planes and monuments, or balloons and stunt rings. The more items collected, the longer they have to explore, gradually increasing the island's available area. In Mission Mode, players earn stars for completing goals like flying through hoops or landing aircraft in precise spots. Earning more stars unlocks new ranks, from Training to Platinum.
Players can take in-game photos and save them to the 3DS photo album to view outside the game and share with others. Pilotwings Resort was a launch title in all regions except Japan and Oceania, and it is a sequel to Pilotwings on the SNES and Pilotwings 64 on the Nintendo 64.
Pilotwings Resort was released on April 14th, 2011.
