Ballblazer is a futuristic soccer-like game where the player, inside a Rotofoil, competes on a 1,155 square Grid. The objective is to kick a floating ball (Plasmorb) into the opponent's goal (Goalbeams). A player can compete against a human or computer opponent.
The Rotofoil has a multi-purpose forcefield that helps in gameplay. When close to the Plasmorb, it acts as a pull field, pulling the ball towards the player. When shooting, it acts as a push field, launching the ball. The player must move down the field, gain possession of the Plasmorb using the joystick, and blast it to an intended direction.
The game requires strategy, as the Goldbeams move every second, reducing the distance between them. Scoring goals near these beams is more valuable than others. The highest scoring goals are those made when the Goldbeams have disappeared over the horizon (Over The Horizon shots). Players can also steal points by making goals, but their combined score cannot exceed 10 points.
The game ends when time runs out or a player wins 10 consecutive goals. If it's a draw, overtime applies, and the first player to score wins. Winning 10 points consecutively automatically secures the win.
